How to Make a Long Island Iced Tea Cocktail

The long island iced tea is affectionately known as one of the most effective cocktails around. We use the work effective to describe the drinks potency, or rather its ability to get its drinker inebriated without having to consume large amounts of it. This is due in no small part to the mixture of liquors that go into this seemingly innocently named drink.

Prep time: 5 minutes

Ingredients:
Ice
Vodka: 1 oz
Gin: 1 oz
White rum: 1 0z
White tequila: 1 oz
Triple sec: 1/2 oz
Fresh lemon juice: 2 tablespoons
Cola: 1/2 cup
Lemon wedges: to garnish

Ice

You can either fill your glasses with ice, or fill your cocktail shaker with ice, however the latter is strongly recommended as it will mix the alcohol while also cooling it.

The Shaker

Fill your shaker (ice in) with vodka, gin, tequila, rum, triple sec and lemon juice.

Shake it Up

Shake the cocktail shaker vigorously in order to mix all of the ingredients well.

Pour and Cola

Pour the contents of the shaker, ice and all into both glasses evenly. Top off the glasses with your favourite cola (Coke or Pepsi both work extremely well).

Garnish and Serve

Garnish your glasses with the lemon wedges and you are ready to enjoy your delicious and potent cocktail.
