Joe Gilmore, the celebrated and creative bar tender at Savoy Hotel's American Bar, is known for his cocktails named after famous personalities and events. Be it for Queen Elizabeth, Richard Nixon or to celebrate the first walk on the moon, Joe had cocktails mixed and named for all of them. This one was for Henry S Truman, once President of the United States. The name is quite symbolic; Missouri is the home state of the President while Mule is the official mascot of the Democratic party, thus the name Missouri Mule. The cocktail is made by mixing Bourbon whiskey, Apple Jack, Lemon Juice and Campari. From the ingredients you can judge how stimulating a mixture it must be.
