Soak barley in water
First get a pot and fill it with water. You need to add around six cups of water. Then add barley into the pot and leave it for 10 to 15 minutes. You should pour in two to two and half cups of roasted barley.
After soaking the barley in water, you need to boil it. Put the pot on the stove and heat it.
Draw out grains when boiled
When the water starts boiling, you need to draw out barley from the pot. Get a bowl and place the grains in it. Remember that barley and the pot will be hot so you need to take proper care while handling them.
Use extract and boiling hops
Next you need to add the boiling hops and the extract into the pot containing boiling water. You need to add three ounces of boiling hops and three pounds of extra dark dry malt extract into the pot. Let the mixture boil for almost an hour.
After adding boiling hops, you need to add moss for almost 45 minutes. Pour ¼ teaspoon of moss in the pot.
Next you need to add finishing hop after boiling. Let it soak for almost 15 to 20 minutes.
Cool and drain
In the end you need to cool down the mixture. Then remove the excess yeast and other components. The liquid which is left behind is your home brew stout.
