How to Make Brandy Snap Cups

One of the most common desserts in the United Kingdom, brandy snap cups are great in taste and easy to make. After following some simple instructions, you will be able to make brandy snap cups easily and efficiently.

Utensils: Ramekins or custard cups, saucepan, wire whisk

Ingredients:
Butter: ½ cup
Sugar: ½ cup
Dark molasses: 1/3 cup
Ground ginger: ¼ teaspoon
Ground cinnamon: ½ teaspoon
Grated orange rind: 1 teaspoon
Flour: ¼ cup
Cognac: 2 tablespoons

    Preheat the oven

    Preheat the oven to 300 degrees Fahrenheit.

    Ready the ramekins or the custard cups

    Now you need to prepare three glass ramekins or custard cups. The size of these bowls should be around four and half inches wide and two inches deep.

    Add butter, sugar, molasses, ginger, cinnamon and orange rind

    After readying the three ramekins or custard cups, you need to get a saucepan. Then add ½ cup butter, ½ cup sugar, 1/3 cup dark molasses, ¼ teaspoon ground ginger, ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon and 1 teaspoon grated orange rind in it. Boil these ingredients afterwards.

    Stir in flour

    After boiling the ingredients, you need to take it off the heat. Then add ¼ cup of flour in the saucepan and stir it with help of a wire whisk.

    Add cognac

    Next you need to add two tablespoons of cognac in the saucepan. Stir the mixture constantly. You are required to blend the mixture until it is smooth. Place the saucepan over simmering water. You can set it in a basin. This is to stop hardening of the mixture while you are working.

    Drop the mixture onto a baking sheet

    Take ungreased baking sheet and drop the mixture onto it. Drop one tablespoon at a time on these baking sheets. Remember to make three snaps at a time and space them widely.

    Bake the snaps

    Next you are required to place the snaps in the oven and bake it for 14 minutes. After taking out snaps, let them cool for few seconds before running a spatula to loosen the bottom. Then you need to place these snaps inside the ramekins and press down so it takes shape of the cup. Let the snaps cool afterwards.
