How to Make Decals for Autos

A decal pasted on you car’s window is one of the best ways to let others know what you are up to. The idea may sound unorthodox but it is possible to make your own decals for autos, thus saving the money that you would have otherwise spent buying them from an auto store.  All you need is a computer with a word processing programme, a few sheets of sticker paper and of course a printer to print the decals. Here is how you can make your own auto decals.

Instructions

  • 1

Purchase a few sheets of sticker paper that are compatible with the printer you will be using to print the decals. If the sticker paper is not compatible with your printer, you will not be able to print the decals on it.

  • 2

Open the word processing software that you wish to use to design the decal. If it is a simple design that you want to create, Microsoft Office Word will be good enough. However, if you are planning to create a complex design, you will have to use a programme such as Adobe Photoshop.

  • 3

Design the logo and print it on a regular sheet of paper. This will enable you to test the design of the decal so that you can make changes to it before printing on the sticker paper. Each time you make a change, print a test page until you reach the final design of the decal.

Now that you have created the final design, it is time to print on sticker paper. Different brands of sticker paper have different printing instructions. Read the instructions for the brand of sticky paper that you purchased.

  • 5

Following the printing instructions word by word, print as many decals as you would like. You may want to print decals with slightly varying designs. If that is the case, make modifications to the design that you created in the work processing document before printing a second set of decals.

With a pair of scissors, cut out the decals from the sticker paper and apply them to your car.
