How to Make Grilled Pizza

Unlike a traditional oven pizza, a grilled pizza has a very smoky flavour to it. Pizza prepared by most fast food brands including Dominos, Pizza Hut and Papa Johns are delicious but if you want your pizza’s crust to be nice and crispy then you should consider cooking it on a barbecue or a grill. Before doing anything else you will be required to light a fire in your barbecue using either coal or wood. Coal is perhaps the cheapest source of energy and it can be easily obtained from your local supermarket. However, it should be noted that wood chips are known to add a better taste to the product.

Allow the fire to burn for a short while. When the flames are gone and the coal or wood chips are only blazing hot, your barbecue grill is nearly ready. If you are planning to prepare the pizza at home, consider making the pizza dough. Place it in a pizza pan and apply either tomato or barbecue sauce.

Put finely crushed mozzarella cheese on the pizza and use the toppings of your choice. You will be using pepperoni, chicken, sweet corn, tomatoes, onions and green peppers for this recipe.

Next, place the pizza on the barbecue grill on top of a pizza stone or on some aluminium foil, which will keep your pizza from burning. It is recommended to use a pizza stone if you want the crust to be evenly cooked. Barbecue your homemade pizza and chances are that it will turn out well on the grill.

Place a lid on top of the pizza and allow it to cook for at least five minutes. Check the pizza every two minutes to make sure the cheese is melted properly and the crust is slightly golden brown. Remove the pizza from the grill after five minutes, sliding it onto a plate.
