How to Make Rosewater for Cooking

You can easily make rosewater at home. There is no need to buy it from the market when you can make it yourself with fresh ingredients. This will keep you satisfied that the things you are using are free from any chemicals or preservatives.

Rosewater can be used in cooking, baking and is essential for your skin also. You just need home grown rose petals which have to be boiled with distilled water. The mixture has to be preserved overnight and the rosewater is ready.

Things Required:

– Rose petals
– Glass jar
– 2 cups of distilled water

    Put rose petals in a pot

    Add the rose petals to a pot. The quantity of the rose petals is up to you. You can take a handful of petals and add them to the pot and pour the right amount of water afterwards. Make sure the rose petals are clean and free from any pesticides. If you wash the petals initially, wait until they are dry to use them.

    Add water to the pot

    Now add the two cups of distilled water to the pot and turn medium heat on. Place a lid on top of the pot and wait for the water to boil. When the water boils, remove the pot from the stove and set it aside for some time to cool down.

    Pour the mixture in a glass jar

    Once the mixture has cooled down, pour the water and the rose petals from the pot to the glass jar. Place a tight lid on top of the glass jar so that all the ingredients remain inside for best results.

    Refrigerate overnight

    Keep the glass jar in the refrigerator through the night so that there is enough time for the flavour to develop. The ingredients will enrich in the water completely in the matter of one night.

    Remove rose petals from the jar

    In the morning, remove all the rose petals from the water and the rosewater is ready for cooking use. You can store the rosewater in the glass jar in the refrigerator for use later and make sure you keep it refrigerated.
