Shortbread cookies are great to make for your loved ones as they are sure to love eating these tasty treats. The best part about making shortbread cookies is that they are extremely easy to make and do not require much time or too many ingredients. Most people have loved the taste of shortbread cookies because they are sweet and moist.
Ingredients
  • Salt - ½ tsp
  • Sugar - 1 ½ tbsp
  • Unsalted butter - ¾ cup
  • Confectioners’ sugar - ¼ cup
  • All-purpose flour - ¾ cup
  • Cake flour - ¾ cup
Instructions
  1. The first step before beginning to actually make the shortbread cookies is to preheat your oven to 300 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. This is essential to make sure that the mixture will begin baking once you are done putting all the ingredients together.
  3. Bring the butter, sugar and salt together as you start beating the ingredients until they are fluffy.
  4. This may take some time especially when you are doing it manually, which is recommended over using any food processor.
  5. Now add in the flour to the mixture of butter, sugar and salt.
  6. This will create dough that will become stiff and may even be difficult to work with.
  7. In order to ensure that the dough will hold together is by adding some milk in small quantities.
  8. Be careful not to add too much milk as this can make the dough watery.
  9. This is why it is best to add one tablespoon of milk at a time.
  10. In order to bring about the shape of the shortbread cookies, mould the dough into a log with a diameter of about two inches.
  11. Next, cut the dough into rounds about ⅓ inches thick.
  12. This cutting will ensure that the cookies are thoroughly baked properly in the oven.
  13. When the dough is ready to go and the cookies have been cut as mentioned in the above step, place them on a baking sheet and put them in the oven for an estimated time of 30 minutes.
  14. They may cook even faster which is why checking every 10 minutes for them to turn golden brown is a good idea.
