On the next page you will be required to enter a username (Not your name in-game), password, e-mail address and set your appropriate region (North American, Europe West etc).

    Download the client

Once you have made an account you will need to download the game client from the official website. The client is usually around a couple of GBs in size and might take some time depending on the speed of your internet connection. Set up your account

Once the client starts, you have to select the region you chose at the time of account creation and then click on ‘Play’ to proceed. The client will prompt you to enter your username and password in order to sign in and once it detects a new account it will ask you to setup a Summoner name. The Summoner name is going to be your in-game name and people will identify you with this. You cannot change this name later without paying a fee so set it up carefully.

    Start a game

Once you are all set, you have to click the ‘Play now’ button to enter the queue making system which will automatically match you with other players with a similar experience level. New accounts are now required to attain level 3 before player vs player (PVP) games become accessible. Once you are matched with 4 other players you will be prompted with a notification box where you can either accept the game or decline it. Accepting the game takes you to the champion select screen.

    Pick a champion

Beginners don’t have any IP (influence points) or RP (Riot points) unless you buy some, so you cannot really purchase champions to play with. However, there is free champion rotation every week, giving you a sizeable number of champions to play with without having to purchase them. Pick one that you like and wait for others to make their choices before the loading screen appears.

    Play the game

After champion selection you are taken to a loading screen which shows the loading progress of everyone in the game. Once all players reach 100%, the game starts with you and your team spawning in you base. There is a shop next to your spawn point where you can purchase starting items with the gold you have. You can also level up one ability to start and then go to one of the three lanes on the map (Summoner’s Rift). From here onwards you explore the map, kill creeps and faceoff against enemy champions. Take your time to learn the mechanics of the game and in no time you will be dominating the fields of justice!
