How to Remove Marks from Walls

When shoes, objects and furniture rub against our lovely painted walls, it literally makes us cringe. These dark visible marks are usually located in painfully obvious locations, leading us to either attempt to cover them with a potted ficus or simply leave them and hope they are missed.

No longer my friends. The following guide details an easy and natural way to clean and completely remove scuff marks and other friction marks from our walls.

Things Required:

– a clean cloth or soft sponge
– distilled white vinegar (1/2 cup)
– baking soda (1/4 cup)
– warm water (8 cups)
– water for rinsing

Instructions

  • 1

    Solution

In a large bucket or bowl, mix the water, vinegar and baking soda. Stir the solution well until fully mixed. Make sure that mix equal parts of each ingredient. Also, stir everything properly so that the mixture is smooth.

    Dip, Squeeze and Locate

Using your cloth or soft sponge, dip into your solution and squeeze out any excess water. Locate the marks on your wall and gently rub the cloth or sponge back and forth over the marks. Remember to take your time and do not rush through this step. It is very important that the solution gets a chance to work on the marks.

Continue to do so, dipping if the cloth dries and scrubbing harder for stubborn stains. Do not scrub too hard as you do not want to damage your wall.

    Rinse and Dry

Use a different cloth and clean water to rinse the area well once the stain has been removed.

Feel free to use a dry cloth to wipe the area completely dry. Make sure that you rinse off the entire solution as it might leave a mild stain if not properly done.

    Move On

Move onto the next mark when you have fully dealt with the first one. Keep on doing this until you get all of the marks off your wall. Remember to go for the most visible ones as they are harder to cover up.
