How to Reset the Administrator Password on a Sony Vaio

If you own a Sony Vaio laptop computer and have Windows operating system installed in it, then you should know that you can create different user accounts for multiple users who can access your computer. Administrator account is a default account created when you install a fresh copy of Windows. This account can be used when you need to install or remove a software program from your computer. If you want to reset your Sony Vaio’s administrator password, then you will have to follow the same process that you follow to change a password on any other computer.

Instructions

  • 1

Turn on your computer and login to your administrator account. You can also login to any other account on your Sony Vaio laptop computer, if the account has administrative privileges.

  • 2

Open the “Start” menu and select “Control Panel”. In the control panel window, you should select the “User Accounts” link. Once again, click the “User Accounts” icon, and you will be able to see all the user accounts on your computer.

  • 3

Select “Administrator” account by clicking on it and you will see a new window opening on your screen, containing all the configuration settings related to that account.

  • 4

Click “Change Password” and you will be asked to set a new password. Type a new password that should be easy enough for you to remember and difficult enough for others to guess. Re-enter your new password and then write a hint in the “Hint” field, which you can use later in case you forget your password. Do not mention a hint that is obvious enough for anyone to guess. For instance, if you set a password that matches exactly with your office’s phone number, then you can write “No.” as your hint, rather than writing “Office Phone Number”.

If you find this process a bit difficult or lengthy, then you can follow alternate method. Open “Start” menu and select the “Run” option, if you are using Windows XP. Just click in the search field, if you are using Windows Vista or Windows 7. Write "Password for Administrator” and press the “Enter” key.

Click the "Reset Password" and follow the same process that you followed in step 4.
