Function Leave Letter

Even if you are invited to a function which falls during the week, attending it shouldn’t be a problem unless you have to travel out of the city for it. If so, taking a leave from work is your  best bet, and here we will show you how to write a function leave letter, along with providing samples and a template to work on.

Once done, you simply have to submit the letter to your human resources department or run it by your supervisor for approval.

Tips for Writing a Function Leave Letter

  • Give some details about the function (what it’s about etc).
  • Explain why you need a leave to attend it (travelling, organizing etc).
  • Clearly state the dates for your leaves and when you plan to rejoin work.
  • Submit the letter well before time for approval.

    Dear Mr. Gerard,

I would like to request a 2-day leave to attend my nephew's first birthday. Since my brother lives in Ireland and I will need to travel from London to attend the function on January 4.

There are no urgent tasks pending with me, but I am still putting Terry Richard in charge while I am gone. Even then, if my assistance is required, I will be reachable via phone and e-mail.

If my request is approved, I will back to work on January 6.

    Thank you for your consideration.
