How to Write a Letter for Extension of Leave

When your bosses approves your leave, but for some reason you intend to take more days off, due to some reason, then it is your duty to inform about your further absence. No matter for what reason you are extending your leave, even it is a single day, informing the human resource department of your office, or your boss, is a professional way, or else you might ruin your reputation. The extending leave letter has the similar procedure, but you just have to remind your boss about the reason of your leave and the number of days for which you were permitted to be absent, along with the reason of leave extension and the number of extended days.     The letter is initiated by writing your full address, which contains your entire postal address. Make sure the address you right is correct, so that you can receive the reply of your letter.

    The next thing which is stated is the date. The date should be of that day on which you are writing the letter.

    Right beneath the date you will state the address of the reader, who is your boss or the Human resource department. In this portion of address you will have to mention the name of your boss along with his or her designation. Besides that do not forget to put in writing the name of your company or organization.

    Right after the address portion the subject will come. For subject you will have to bold it and underline it, the reason of doing this is to make it easy for the reader to know what sort of news the writer intends to break in the letter.

    Now comes the address part. As you know the letter is a formal letter so you should address your boss by using non casual words like Respected, Dear or if you are not sure about the recipient then you may write ‘to whom it may concern.

    Form the next line start writing the letter and break the news in the initial lines in order, to remove any sort of ambiguity. Do not make the letter long and state the reason along with the number of days you wish to take off.

    End the letter by thanking the reader for his or her time. Lastly write your name along with your designation.
