There are several salads which can be prepared in a very short time because they do not require many ingredients. Such salads are very light and can be presented before or with the main course dishes as a starter or side dish. Insalata Caprese is a similar kind of salad dish which you can prepare on a very short note. However, even with fewer ingredients, Insalata Caprese gives a great taste, especially if you have it with a main course dish. But do keep one thing in mind that all the ingredients should be fresh and of high quality if you want the best taste.
This dish basically belongs from Campania, which is a part of Italy. In this region, unlike other salads, Insalata Caprese is served as a starter or antipasto rather than a side dish. This dish has a long history, as it was prepared before 1950. However, Insalata Caprese became a hit dish when the King Farouk of Egypt had it in the 1950’s.
