Office Email Pranks

Office is regarded as a serious place, where serious people do serious work, or else face serious consequences. All this, however, goes out the window on April fool’s Day or during a holiday. You can safely take a break from all the seriousness and pull off an email prank on your colleagues.

While writing a prank email, mention the subject matter of the email in the very first paragraph.

In the next paragraph, explain the subject matter in detail. Make the whole situation sound as real as possible, so that your colleague does not see through the joke.

In the final paragraph, wish your colleague best of luck and assure him of your support in case of an ugly situation.

    Dear Marty,

I apologise for being the one to break the bad news to you, but I was came back from the boss’s office and saw a firing letter with your name on it lying on his desk.

I believe that your dismal performance at work has finally gotten you in trouble. I warned you so many times about the consequences that you may have to face in case the boss learns of your negligence towards work and spending hours talking to your new girlfriend on the phone, but you chose to ignore me. It seems that someone from our department has complained to the boss about you. The latest complained about you seems to have been taken as the last draw.

I am so sorry for you. I know how badly you want this job, especially with your wife being pregnant with your third child. I would like you to give me a call as soon as you read this mail so that we can discuss in more detail.  Maybe we can come up with a way to convince boss to reconsider his decision.

    Sincerely,

    Robert Downing

    To: [Recipient’s Email Address]

    Dear [Recipient’s Name]

I write this email with great joy to inform you that I have received a call from the multinational company that I applied to last month. They have hired me and asked me to join the as soon as possible, which is why I have already booked a flight to Singapore.

[Recipient’s Name], you were the first person I became friends with at work. You have proven to be a great friend all these years and while I do understand that you will be feeling a bit aggrieved to learn that you and I will no longer be working together anymore, I have no doubt that you will be feeling immensely happy for me.

I assure you that even though I am leaving this company and moving to another country, I will try my best to stay in touch with you. If it is possible for you, let’s meet up tomorrow for lunch. Do not worry, the lunch would be on me.

    Take good care of yourself,

    Sincerely,

    [Sender’s Name]
