Milk Allergy is a reaction upon consumption of milk, caused by the immune system to one or more than one components. It’s a food based allergy, one which may create a life threatening condition for the victim under worse circumstance.

The signs and symptoms of milk allergy appear differently, ranging from person to person. The allergy tends to occur more in children rather than adults.

    Hives, Wheezing & Vomiting

    The immediate signs that appear in people suffering from milk allergy after using dairy products include hives, wheezing and vomiting. These are the first and foremost signs of an allergic reaction caused by milk, and can vary in order or nature from person to person. The time taken for the appearance of such symptoms can be in minutes, or at times, even take hours after consuming milk products.

    Later Symptoms

    Once the initial symptoms are observed, they tend to get worsened with the passage of time. The victim would start to suffer from abdominal cramps, coughing, runny nose, watery eyes and itchy skin, especially around the mouth. Moreover, infants may seem to get sickened by another condition known as colic (pain starting and ending abruptly), while being a victim of the above mentioned signs and symptoms.

    Anaphylaxis

    Victims can suffer from another condition known as Anaphylaxis. The condition is considered to a serious life-threatening situation which involves the narrowing of the airway, causing on to have problems in breathing. It's important to undergo test and treatment in case of milk reactions, as they can induce anaphylaxis, which is a dangerous condition. Whether it's mild or strong, consult a doctor if you're facing allergic reaction from milk. It can be treated using a dose of epinephrine (adrenaline), which would eventually calm down the reaction.

    Gastrointestinal Effects

    The patient would begin to suffer from gastrointestinal disorders such as vomiting 0r a burning sensation in the intestines. These are all signs of the particular individual being a victim of milk allergy. The person would also suffer from extreme nausea, which would be followed by diarrhea and loose stools, which might contain traces of blood at times.

    It's essential that the difference between Milk Allergy and Lactose Intolerant should be understood in order to develop a better understanding of treatment and precautionary measures for both of the conditions.
