Sugars are carbohydrates in their simplest and purest form. These are traced in table sugar (sucrose), fruits (fructose) and milk (lactose). They provide a fast paced energy source. Corn syrup, maple syrup, honey and white, brown and confectioner’s sugar are all sugars. We all know that they offer energy, but these contains of only a handful of minerals and vitamins. A diet with only a bit more of sugar can cause diabetes or obesity. Therefore, it is recommended to take extra care when consuming sugar or sugary foods. Older people are mostly advised to avoid sugar in their foods and diet.
