Yes, yes, we have heard all the jokes about Chocolate Chip Banana Bread, but all kidding aside, this is a delicious breakfast treat or can be served as a dessert if warmed with butter. This recipe, which actually turns out brown in the end, may be the most scrumptious of all. It will happily feed about 20 people.
Ingredients
Butter – ½ cup
Buttermilk – ⅓ cup
White sugar – 1 ½ cup
Unsifted cake flour – 2 ½ cups
Sour cream – ⅓ tablespoons
Baking powder – ¼ teaspoon
Ripe bananas – 3 (large)
Semi-sweet chocolate chips – 1 ½
Eggs – 2
Salt – 1 teaspoon
Vanilla extract – 1 tablespoon
Baking soda – ½ teaspoon
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 175 degrees Celsius.
If the oven displays the temperature in Fahrenheit, set it to 350 degrees.
Take a 10 inch tube cake pan and slightly grease it.
Take a large bowl and whisk the butter and sugar together until the mixture becomes light and fluffy.
Add the eggs one by one and whisk them hard with each addition.
After all the eggs get added into the mixture, take vanilla and blend it with the mixture.
Take mashed bananas, sour cream and buttermilk and add them into the mixture.
Now take cake flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt and mix them together, prior to adding them to the previously made sugar/banana mixture.
It is essential to mix the powders first. Otherwise, it can ruin the recipe.
Then fold in the chocolate chips.
Pour butter into the already prepared 10-inch tube cake pan.
Put the mixture into the pan and bake for around 35 to 45 minutes.
Try to check the bread on regular basis.
As soon as the top turns golden brown, and the top starts springing back when touched, it means that the Chocolate Chip Banana Bread is ready.
Take the pan out of the oven and let it cool for around 15 minutes, before removing the bread from pan.
Slice the bread after it completely cools down.
