– There is a strong probability that Apple would remove iChat from the official website for download in order to encourage its customers to move to Messages.
– If you do not find iChat on Apple’s website, then you will have no option but to install it from the OS X install disk. Insert the disk in the drive, open it, look for the “Optional Install” folder, locate and launch “OptionalInstalls.mpkg” and then select iChat to selectively install it.
– If you are looking for an enhanced text, video conferencing, audio conferencing and screen-sharing experience, then it is best that you download and install Messages. You can download the application software from the Apple website.
