– Once you get good at it, you can start braiding beads and/or strips of ribbon or velvet into your fishtail braid, to give it a colourful look.
– If you have trouble doing it the first few times around, ask a family member or friend to watch from the back and correct you if you go wrong. You can also stand in front of a mirror, and keep another mirror behind you, in order to keep an eye on what your hands are doing behind you as you braid your own hair.
– While braiding, make sure all the sections are equal, otherwise the braid will have an uneven look.
