Remove protective bandage
First of all you need to remove the protective bandage almost an hour after having a tattoo. The applying of tattoo damages the skin and thus needs to breathe air. The removing of the protective bandage is required for your skin to heal.
Wash shoulder blade
You need to wash your shoulder blade with warm water and antibacterial soap. Remember to concentrate on the area where tattoo is imprinted. Apply the soap gently on your skin with help of fingertips. This will prevent damaging of your skin.
You should also avoid scabbing by wiping off any blood on the tattoo. You can use a soft washcloth after 14 days when your shoulder blade’s skin heals.
Dry your shoulder blade
You need to dry your shoulder blade. You can do this with help of a dry cloth or simply let the air dry.
You can use medicinal ointment on your tattoo. Apply it gently using your fingertips twice or thrice a day. Remember not to apply more than three times a day as it may damage your skin due to over-hydration.
After two to three days, you can leave the medicinal ointment and use simple moisturisers on the tattoo.
You should avoid scratching the tattoo with your fingernails. Wearing shirt will already rub against your tattoo thus you should not pat your tattoo. Scratching will delay the healing process.
Keep out of the sun
You need to avoid much exposure to the sun of tanning in tanning beds as this will burn the skin. In addition to the burning of the skin, your tattoo may also fade away. You can always apply sunblock on the shoulder blade when going out in a sunny day. However, apply the sunblock only after your skin is fully healed.
