– Note that there are 54 million disabled people in the United States of America.
– Besides ableism, prejudice is also based on racism, sexism and homophobia. In racism prejudice, people of one race believe they are superior to other and thus treat them in that manner. Some of the examples of racism include genocide, segregation and hate crimes.
– Sexism involves that one sex is superior or better than other. Usually men are better than women and as a result they have more power. As a result women face problems in many areas of the society. On the other hand men are preferred at workplace. Stereotypes about women lead them to take care of the child and let them look after house.
– Homophobia is the hatred and hostility towards people who are gay, lesbian and bisexual. This is because heterosexuality is considered to be better and superior over homosexuality. Studies show that around 1000 hate crimes are committed on yearly basis against lesbians, gays and bisexual.
