Learn how to chip
The first thing that you need to do is to learn how to play a chip shot properly. Not all people know how to do this, even though they might claim to know how.
You need to first learn where to grip the club from, and then learn to move your arms in a chipping manner. You then need to learn how to position yourself so that you can manage to get the best possible swing.
Shifting your weight is also essential to getting the right amount of lift.
Lastly, you need to learn to keep your wrists locked and to loft the ball and not smack through it.
Once you have gone on to learn how to hit the chip shot, the next step is for you to go out and start practicing it. The more time you put in practice the better it is going to be for you to develop consistency.
Remember to practice from a wide number of angles and spots, so that you don’t limit your chipping potential.
The only way you will start to show real consistency, is if you actually go on and participate in tournaments and then hit the chip shot during those big money matches.
Once you mentally accept the fact that the chip shot could make or break your game, you will start to focus on it even more, and then try and pull it off better.
This is why playing in competitions is important to develop consistency.
