Build Your Own Pool, Save Thousands of Dollars

Nothing beats plunging into the cool waters of a pool on a hot summer’s day. It is no wonder that thousands of people flock to swimming pool construction companies for quotes every summer. A place for family entertainment and activities, a fun way to exercise and keep fit, and a great place to relax; in my opinion, everyone should have a pool! But did you know you could save thousands of dollars by bypassing the pool construction company and building the pool yourself?

Many people are starting to construct their own pools, and no, I do not mean pulling out shovels and starting to dig. It is possible to hire teams of subcontractors to do the pool building work for you. Plumbers, joiners, tilers will do the work for you, all you have to do is tell them what you want done and schedule them in the right order! OK, it is not that easy, but with the resources available on the Internet and the amount of information available in books building your own pool has never been easier.

So how does this save you money? Well pool construction companies have to pay for their marketing and promotion, their offices, the wages of the staff who manage (and do not actually do any of the constructing themselves) and of course the owner of the company has to get a decent wage. All this money has to come from somewhere, and that somewhere is your pocket!

By contracting out the work yourself you can cut all these fees and either spend it on making your pool even more luxurious, or save it for a rainy day, or buy a Jacuzzi to go with your newly built pool. You could even add in a slide for the kids or a feature waterfall. The choice is yours, and many choices can be chosen with the thousands of dollars that can be saved.

Although you will not have to do a single bit of building (you can if you have a trade, but you will not have to), you do need to know enough to be able to convey intelligently what you want to be done, and you also need to know enough about the pool building process to know when to schedule each different group of subcontractors.

If you do decide to buy a new pool I wish you the best of luck. The one thing that I would advise is to seek other people that have built their own pools near to where you live (you will be able to find them in forums on the internet) and ask them to recommend good, reliable sub contractors.
