Cheap, Tasty Tacos in Boston

You want your food fast, fresh and cheap. While this may be an oxymoron to most people, here in Boston, we have a secret and it’s called Anna’s Taqueria.

With a few locations thorughout Boston, you can be sure to find one close to you, or at the most, a T’s ride away. My favorite is in the heart of Davis Square. If you’re exiting the T and the Somerville Theatre is on your right, you’ll want to stay right and travel with the traffic, you’ll find Anna’s about half way down the street across from the meat market and nail shop; 236A Elm St.

Now that you’ve arrived, come on inside! Your senses will be greeted by bright and sunny decor, infectious music and the smell of grilled meats and fresh vegetables. If you’ve never been to Anna’s, take a step back and look at the menu before getting in line. There are busy people in every locale and they get em’ in and get em’ out. I highly recommend the “Super Burrito”. All foods are prepared fresh daily, you’ll see most of Anna’s staff, cooking, cleaning, chopping, cutting and grilling. Their salsa is fresh and heavy on the cilantro, heavenly for my own taste buds. You’ll have quite the selection with this burrito, real melted cheese is included, but please let your server know if you do not want cheese before they start your burrito.Meats include, steak, white meat chicken, dark meat chicken and pork. Next choose your beans; black beans, pinto beans or refried beans. Top off your “Super” with sour cream, guacamole, rice, salsa, lettuce and hot sauce. My personal fave is chicken, rice, refried beans, lettuce and extra salsa. This burrito is filling! If you’re a light eater, I’d beg of you to split one with your friend. So now they’ve constructed your burrito at lightning speed and you’re ready to pay. How much would you pay for this filling, deliciously fresh burrito? Five dollars? Maybe six? Try $2.75 add a drink and chips and you’re still under five dollars. Chips are 75 cents, add salsa for another 75 cents or guacomole for $1.00 dollar. Their menu also includes, quesadillas, dinner plates with meat rice and beans, tacos, mini tacos, smaller burritos, chips and salsa and all your regular Tex-Mex faves. Jarritos to drink? Flan for dessert? Anna’s is sure to please.
