Christmas Activities in Northern Colorado

Many of the cities and towns of Northern Colorado offer free and very low cost family Christmas activities during the month of December. If you want to avoid some of the higher cost activities this year, or if you are looking for something with a more hometown feel, the smaller towns in Northern Colorado have much to offer your family. Many of these cities sponsor free and mostly free family activities for Christmas including visits and pictures with Santa, sleigh rides, caroling, parades, light shows and even a live Nativity scene.

Christmas is expensive enough for families with children as it is. If you want to create family memories and traditions this year without breaking the bank, consider one or many of the activities listed below:

Christmas events in Erie Colorado

3rd Annual Erie Country Christmas Parade & Celebration

Location – downtown Erie

Date — Friday December 6, 2013

Hours — 5:00pm – 8:00pm

Ticket Prices – Free Event

Event description: Erie’s celebration features a living nativity scene, choirs performing, free hay rides, visits with Santa and a parade of lights.

Christmas activities in Longmont Colorado

Longmont Lights

Locations – Roosevelt Park, Longmont Senior Center, Longmont Ice Pavilion, St. Vrain Memorial Building, and Downtown Longmont on Main Street.

Dates – 12/13/2013 and 12/14/2013

Hours – 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM

Ticket prices – Free Event

Event details – The City of Longmont is hosting two days of Christmas celebrations at several locations in the downtown area. On December 13 th you can visit Santa’s workshop in Roosevelt Park. Two live reindeer will be outside the St. Vrain Memorial building and free Sleigh rides will be offered from the Longmont Senior Center. There will be a free ice show offered at the City Ice Pavilion followed by free public ice skating. The “Lights on Parade” starts at 5:00 PM on 12/14/2013 where over 50 floats, marching bands and characters will parade down Main Street in Downtown Longmont.

Parking – Parking is available in the adjacent streets around downtown.

Christmas activities in Firestone, Frederick and Dacono Colorado

Carbon Valley Holiday Festival

Locations – Firestone – Coal Ridge Middle School 6201 Booth Dr. Firestone

Frederick – Crist Park 105 5 th St. Frederick

Dacono — St Vrain Legacy Trailhead

Dates – 12/7/2013

Hours – 12:00 PM – 4:00 PM in Firestone

4:30 – 5:00 in Dacono

6:00 – 8:00 in Frederick

Event details – This is a combined tri-town event. The event starts in Firestone at 12:00 PM at Coal Ridge Middle School. Santa and Mrs. Claus will be available to meet with and take pictures with children. Santa will also have a workshop set up for kids to make craft projects.

After the events in Firestone are complete, Dacono will host a tree lighting ceremony with music and fireworks. This event ends in Frederick with the Festival of Lights from 6-8pm. This event will include a tree lighting ceremony, ice sculptures, hay rides, pictures with Santa and holiday performances from different choirs.

Christmas Activities Estes park Colorado

Catch the Glow

Location – Downtown Estes Park

Dates – 11/29/2013

hours – 12:00 PM – 8:00 PM

Event Description: Estes Park is one of the most magical Christmas towns in Colorado. Every year Estes Park kicks of the Christmas season on the Friday after Thanksgiving with a parade of lights. Estes Park hosts the Catch the Glow Parade of Lights through downtown Estes Park starting at 5:30 PM. The Estes Park Parade of Lights is a spectacular event that includes lighted floats, carolers, marching bands, Santa and many other characters parading down the storybook main street of Estes Park.

Christmas Activities in Berthoud Colorado

Location – Downtown Berthoud – Fikle Park

Dates – 12/7/13

Hours – 5:00 PM

Ticket prices – Free Event

Event Description: The town of Berthoud will be having a holiday parade followed by a tree lighting ceremony after the parade. The town of Berthoud has many other smaller events including visits with Santa, craft fairs and music on December 6 th and 7 th . Visit the official website for more activities in Berthoud.

Any of these northern Colorado cities will allow your family to have a memorable Christmas celebration in a more hometown atmosphere. Most of these activities are free allowing your family to enjoy the Christmas holiday without the stress of financial hardship.
