Great Wolf Lodge in Traverse City, MI

Great Wolf Lodge is a resort that combines Michigan’s largest indoor waterpark with a vast number of activities and amenities. Kid’s will love the 38,000 square foot waterpark featuring 8 waterslides, an outdoor water area and a 4-story, 12-level treehouse with over 60 water activities. Adults will love the hot tubs and full-service spa, where you have your choice of more than a dozen spa therapies, get your nails manicured, get waxed or get a facial. It’s all about relaxing and being pampered while on vacation.

That’s just the start. You have a choice between 7 different types of suites: Wolf Den, KidKamp, Whirlpool Fireplace, KidCabin, Majestic Bear, Loft Fireplace, and Family. All are quite beautiful and have a rustic feel to them. The KidKamp and KidCabin are especially cute and very well-designed with a child in mind. The KidCabin suite has an in-suite cabin-themed sleeping area for the kids with a bunk bed, day bed and their own TV. In the main portion of the suite the adults have a queen bed. Select suites include fireplaces and whirlpools. Rates from rooms vary, but they range from $190 to $375 a night, depending on which suite you choose. That may sound a little steep, but wait until you hear what else comes with your stay.

Great Wolf Lodge also features an The Northern Lights arcade, a 7,000 square foot black-lit arcade with almost 100 games, from action video to ticket redemption games. They have a children’s craft and activity room and a Great Clock Tower, which comes to life three times daily with animation and song. Have I mentioned the very awesome waterpark? I have. Well, I should mention it again, as it is the main feature of this lodge. First, you have Bear Track Landing (pictured), a huge indoor play area, at 4 stories tall, Bear Track Landing has 8 waterslides, 1 activity pool indoors. There is also Fort Mackenzie with it’s suspension bridges, cargo nets and web crawls. It also has a huge 48-foot tall bucket at the top of Fort Mackenzie fills with 1,000 gallons of water and dumps over the entire fort every three to five minutes. And if you were wondering, yes, there are lifeguards. Ellis & Associates Certified Lifeguards often perform a number of drills and skills tests during hours of operation. Besides the main attractions of the waterpark, there is also a lazy river, activity pools and large free-form hot tubs.

I don’t think a kid could go through all the fun activities that Great Wolf Lodge offers. And if by chance they do, Great Wolf Lodge is located in Traverse City and there are plenty of things to do there. Nearby activities to Great Wolf Lodge are the Great Lakes Children’s Museum, Clinch Park Zoo and Grand Traverse Bay. For parents, Black Star Farms & Winery and Turtle Creek Casino. Downtown Traverse in only 3 miles away. While Great Wolf Lodge may be on the pricey side, it is a first-class resort designed with family in mind.
