Popular Bike Trails in Rostraver, Pennsylvania

Pennsylvania has always offered the allure of beautiful scenery, lush hills, various wild flowers and enough wildlife to start a zoo, but the state is also abundant with bike, nature, and walking trails for a more up close and personal viewing of these natural wonders. Bike trails can be found in just about every township in every region of the state, and Pennsylvanians don’t waste any time using up these vast outdoor exercise outlets.

One of the most popular bike trails in south western Pennsylvania is Cedar Creek Park, located in the town of Rostraver. The well-planned bike trail sits directly in the northern part of the 464-acre layout of the park which also has a station that rents bicycles to avid riders, and offers riders a selection of food from the fairly inexpensive concession stand so that they can keep their energy levels up for the rugged bike trail that runs several miles through thick wooded hillsides.

The bike trail lead’s bicyclists onto terrain designed for the safety of the riders in mind, as well as a full tour of all that Cedar Creek Park has to offer. Beautiful bridges are placed throughout the park, and bicyclists can enjoy scenes of fishing, hikers walking along the adjacent walking trail, various wildlife, and many different types of sporting events. During the summer Cedar Creek Park has many festivities running from car shows and carnivals, to summer concerts and food festivals. These activities generally run from April through October. However, Cedar Creek Park does not slow down in the winter as sledding and toboggans are favorites of the locals. Bicyclists have also been seen at the Cedar Creek Park bicycle trails braving out the cold winter weather that Pennsylvanians are accustomed to.

Cedar Creek Park is also known for having some of the best accommodations for bicyclists as there is a first-aid station, water fountains placed strategically throughout the park, and trained security officers on the premises in case of an emergency. Tired bicyclists can find comfort in the many benches throughout the riding trail or they can just take a break and enjoy the natural beauty that the area offers so effortlessly. The serenenity of Youghiogheny River lures many bicyclists to its breath taking site, and the bike trails have been made with this in mind. Most of the bike trails offer sites of the lake from different locations, and bicyclists can watch people canoeing, kayaking or fishing for the catch of the day.

The Manderino River front park, located directly at the bend in the river at Cedar Creek Park offers bicyclists numerous picnic tables that can accommodate several hundred guests, and barbecue pits are available so that riders can enjoy a hot meal, and the concession stand is close by so that any last minute items forgotten can be easily obtained without worry of losing time on the trails.

Creek Park in Rostraver, Pennsylvania is located on highway 51. Just take Interstate 70 East and exit at 46B/Pittsburgh which brings you onto Route 51 North. Follow Route 51 North to the first traffic light which is approximately a half a mile away. The well displayed Cedar Creek Park sign is on the right side of the highway. At the sign, make a right, and then a quick left at the very next Cedar Creek Park sign. Continue to follow the directional signs to the park.
