Product Review: Clorox ReadyMop

The Clorox ReadyMop is a mopping system similar to the more frequently advertised Swiffer WetJet, a lightweight mop with disposable mopping pads that squirts out a liquid floor cleaner, making mopping a one-step process. I recently purchased the starter kit, which includes a mop, one bottle of floor cleaner, and eight mopping pads, for around $15. I did not waste any time once I got home before I tried it out, hoping it would be much quicker and easier to mop with than a traditional mop would be. I found that there were pros and cons to the Clorox ReadyMop, listed below.

The Pros

1. The Clorox ReadyMop is very easy to assemble.

2. The Clorox ReadyMop is great for everyday mopping needs. It picks up dirt and spills effectively and efficiently.

3. It is very nice to be able to dispose of a filthy mopping pad rather than having to rinse out a mop repeatedly. Not only is it easier, but it also prevents dirty water from being spread around the entire floor, making for an especially clean floor.

4. There is enough liquid floor cleaner in the Clorox ReadyMop starter kit to last for a long time, so you will not end up spending too much on refills.

5. The cleaning liquid is safe on all types of floors, including wood and even marble, so you can use the Clorox ReadyMop in any room of the house.

6. The Clorox ReadyMop is easy to store. It is small enough to fit into a closet, or can be disassembled to fit in a cabinet or other small space.

The Cons

1. Although it was not difficult to assemble the Clorox ReadyMop, the instructions for doing so could have been a bit clearer. In fact, there really were no written instructions, only a picture on the box showing what went where. I was able to figure it out, but I can see where some could become confused by the lack of clear instructions.

2. The Clorox ReadyMop does not clean dried-on stains very well. For major stains, it takes a lot more effort than it would take using a traditional mop, perhaps because it is hard to target a specific area with the liquid cleaner.

As you can see, the pros far outweigh the cons. The Clorox ReadyMop is very useful, but do not expect it to completely take the place of other methods of cleaning your floor. However, I believe the Clorox ReadyMop is worth the $15 I spent on it and would recommend it to others.
