Top Three Hotels in Vancouver, Washington

Vancouver is the oldest city in Washington, and is a great stop for the history buff minded tourist. Once a large wester fort, make sure to check out the Fort Vancouver National Historic Site. The Pearson Airfield is also an interesting stop for those curious about aviation history. The beautiful views of the Columbia river are gorgeous, and this city is less hectic than nearby Portland. The Heathman Lodge is a sophisticated alternate to your standard hotel. It is a resort lodge, located 15 minutes from downtown, giving it a woodsy, private feel. There is perhaps a rustic atmosphere, but the services are not rustic: the rooms are large and comfortable (especially the suites!) and come equipped with air-conditioning, television, refrigerator, microwave, iron, and a hairdryer. The lobby is nice and so is the in-house restaurant, Hudson’s Bar and Grill. The Lodge is more of a retreat, decorated in in a Pacific Northwest Style, and complete with a pool and a sauna. The Portland airport is just about 20 minutes away (the state border between Washington and Oregon is the Columbia River, which is essentially the only divide between the two cities, as well.)There are plenty of outdoor activities, and the lodge is close to the Westfield shopping center. Commuting into Portland is easy from here.
