El Presidente Cocktail Recipe

El Presidente, a Cuban-born cocktail, is refreshing and a full of flavour drink. One post has a hundred candidates, it is the case with the El Presidente Cocktail as there are many claimants behind this drink. The interesting history behind the invention of this drink is yet not clear, as many bartenders claim to create this unique drink in the honour of the Cuban presidents in different Cuban bars. This simple recipe of El Presidente Cocktail consists of white rum, Dolin Vermouth Blanc, orange Curacao or Grand Marnier and real grenadine.

Things Required: Bar spoon, cocktail mixing glass, Strainer, martini glass


– 1 ½ oz rich white rum
– 1 ½ oz Dolin Vermouth Blanc
– 1 bar spoon orange Curacao or Grand Marnier
– ½ bar spoon real grenadine
– Cracked ice
– Thinly cut orange peel
– Maraschino cherry for garnishing – optional

    Wash your hands and the kitchen work surface area completely before starting this recipe. You will also want to wash all the glasses, utensils and other items that you will be using for putting together this interesting beverage. It is always a good idea to keep everything clean before making any type of food or beverages.

    Place your martini glass in the refrigerator until it is chilled thoroughly. Be sure to put your glass somewhere safe as you do not want it to fall or break when you constantly open and close the refrigerator.

    Until then, take a cocktail mixing glass and pour 1 ½ oz of rich white rum, 1 ½ oz of Dolin Vermouth Blanc, 1 bar spoon orange Curacao or Grand Marnier and ½ bar of spoon real grenadine into it. You can control the amount of alcohol in your cocktail by reducing the amount of rum which should not have a dramatic impact on the overall taste of this exciting cocktail mix.

    Fill half of your cocktail mixing glass with cracked ice and stir it for few seconds until all of its ingredients mix completely. Be sure to check that you have a nice smooth texture and that the consistency is appropriate.

    Now, gradually strain it into a pre-chilled martini glass, twist a thinly cut orange peel over the top and drop it into the drink. However, you can discard the orange peel if you do not like it in your drink. It is entirely up to your own personal taste.

    Garnish the glass of El Presidente Cocktail with fresh maraschino cherry and present. You can use anything that you want to garnish your cocktail as your friends and family will have a nice time sipping this delicious cocktail for hours.
