How To Bake Heart Shaped Valentine’s Day Cookies

As Valentine’s Day is right around the corner, you might be thinking of ideas for desserts and baked food items. Home baked Heart Shaped Valentine’s Day Cookies are the sweetest way to say “I love you” to your sweetheart and loved ones. They are delicious and crispy delights suitable for kids and adults. You can serve them at your Valentine’s Day party or simply give them out to your friends and family on the special day.

Utensils: mixing bowl, electric mixer, sieve, small bowl, oven, refrigerator, baking sheets, baking tray, toothpick

Ingredients:

– 1 Cup (about 2 sticks) unsalted butter
– 2 Cups sugar
– 2 large eggs
– 4 2/3 Cups all-purpose flour, plus more for dusting
– 1 tablespoon baking soda
– ¼ teaspoon salt
– ¼ Cup of buttermilk
– ½ Cup pale pink or white sanding sugar
– Petal dust in pink, orange or violet tones

Instructions

    Take a large glass bowl, large enough to be used with an electric mixer, and place 1 cup of unsalted butter in it.

    Top the butter with 2 cups of sugar and mix both of these ingredients with the help of an electric mixer set to medium speed.

    Continue mixing for about 5 minutes, or until the sugar dissolves completely and forms a smooth fluffy mixture with the butter.

    Stop mixing and break the two eggs into the butter-sugar mixture one by one.

    Now, use a sifter or sieve to sift the 4 2/3 cups of all-purpose flour and add it in to the bowl as well.

    Turn on the electric mixer again, but on low speed this time, and blend the ingredients until they mix together well and form a thick and smooth dough.

    Turn off the mixer and use your hands to mix the ingredients until they form a smooth dough.

    Cover the dough completely, using a plastic wrapping sheet and place it in your refrigerator for 1 to 2 hours or overnight.

    In the mean time, place ½ a cup of pale pink or white sanding sugar in a medium mixing bowl and top with petal dust in pink, orange or violet tones.

    Mix the ingredients, using a toothpick or your finger tip. Keep mixing for few a minutes until you get the desired colour.

    Preheat your oven to 350 degrees and then line the two baking trays with some baking or parchment sheets.

    Remove the dough from refrigerator and unseal it. Lightly flour your kitchen counter top or work surface and the rolling pin. Now divide the dough into medium balls and roll them into about 1/8-inch thickness.

    Dust your hands with some flour and roll the dough balls to desired thickness using a rolling pin.

    Cut out your Heart Shaped Valentine’s Day Cookies using the heart-shaped cookie cutter.

    Arrange the cookies on the lined baking trays, keeping reasonable distance between them.

    Place the trays in the refrigerator for 25 to 30 minutes.

    Take out the trays from the oven and set them in the cooling rack for some time till the cookies cool down.
