How to Make Fantastic Quaker Oatmeal

Oatmeal, the meal of the Scots, is a well balanced nutritional meal that can be prepared in a jiffy. Known for its numerous health benefits, oatmeal has been a hot favourite as a high energy food for a kick-start in the morning. It contains fibers that help in proper digestion and keep you going the whole day.

Constipation and other Gastrointestinal (GI) problems can also be remedied by adding oats to your diet. Other health benefits of oatmeal include lowering of cholesterol, blood pressure and other cardiovascular diseases. A cup of oatmeal is rich in vitamins and minerals and is thus a healthy meal for both adults and children alike. A hint of honey, when added to a teaspoon of oatmeal works as an excellent beauty mask. Oats are an excellent and easy to cook meal which can be cooked and eaten in many possible ways. Here is a quick and delicious recipe to cook oats:

Prep time: 5 min
Cook time: 10 to 15 min
Total time: 20 to 25 min
Yield: 1-2 servings
Utensils: Frying pan, spoon, serving bowl

Ingredients:
Heaped spoons oats (quaker oats): 2-3
Milk (cup of milk): 1/4 liter
Sugar (or brown sugar): 1-2 spoons
Condensed milk: 1 spoon
Whipped cream (as required)

Instructions

    In a frying pan add the milk and bring it to a boil. To this, add the Quaker oats, sugar/brown sugar (omit the sugar if you are on a sugar free diet) and a spoon of condensed milk.

    Let it simmer on slow heat for 10-15 minutes, giving it a stir after every minute. Check if has come to a consistency that you desire and then take it off the flame before pouring it into your serving bowl.

    Add in the whipped cream and our delicious oatmeal is ready to eat. For an added boost in flavour, you can add fruits, raisins, nuts and biscuits. For this you can cut the fruits of your liking (one would do as well) and cook them in the pan for about 10 minutes, before adding the oatmeal to it. Depending on your craving, stir it (not more than 30 minutes) for the desired thickness level.
