Choose account type and study the options
Before you open an account, you would have to decide what type of an account you want to open. You have two main options in shape of a savings account or a checking (current) account. If you are employed and want the salary to be transferred into your account, then the checking account is the best option for you because you can pay your utility bills as well through that account type.
Before you open an account, you must do proper research and visit some banks and see which one of them offers the best customer services.
Make a deposit and know the fees
Upon opening a bank account, you will have to put a certain amount of money in your account at the beginning. Apart from depositing some money upfront, you must also go through the signed contract between you and the bank, which will allow you to know what kind of fees will be deducted from your account every year.
Manage your checkbook and debit card
Your checkbook and debit card are your personal stuff. Your bank routing number and the account number are written on every single leaf of your checkbook. Make sure that your information remains private, in order to prevent any misuse of your account.
