Hotel Guide: Mobile, Alabama

There are several things to be said about the south, more specifically Alabama. First and foremost, are the people. The southern charm can warm even the most cold of hearts, as can the weather. And when you add the variable of the Gulf Coast to the already existing gentile atmosphere of this state, than what you are getting is one great vacation or business trip. So, you are looking for a city that has all of the above in it? No worries, there is one. It’s called Mobile, Alabama. And it is in this quaint ocean-side city that millions of people flock to annually. There is only one problem, what hotel should you stay in? Well, I have reviewed the top three hotels in Mobile, and all of them are guaranteed to satisfy even the most peculiar tastes.

The first hotel in which I reviewed is the Marriott Grand Hotel. This four-star hotel is perched on the eastern shore of Mobile Bay, and the hotel is also only one mile from Point Clear. This hotel offers 550 acres of moss-draped oaks that include two golf-courses, a health spa with salon and beauty services, four restaurants, and a lounge. Additional activities include a landscaped free-form outdoor pool with a waterfall and slide. And for those cooler Alabama nights, there is an indoor lap-pool. Several other amenities include fishing piers on a private beach, rental bicycles, tennis courts, boating, and more. The Marriott Grand Hotel has 450 rooms in five buildings. All rooms have high-speed Internet access for a surcharge.

The second hotel in which I reviewed is the Riverview Plaza Hotel. This hotel is in a prime downtown location, overlooking Mobile Bay, and connected to Mobile Convention Center with its 317,000 square feet of meeting space. The hotel also offers additional function space, including a ballroom and banquet facilities for up to 1,200 guests. Need to swim? There is a seasonal outdoor pool, and a spa tub on the fourth floor. Along with the spa tub, there is a fitness center, and also discount passes are provided to a nearby YMCA with indoor pool, basketball, racquetball, and jogging track. This hotel offers 337 guestrooms in a 28-story building. All rooms have dial-up Internet access for a fee.

And the last hotel in which I reviewed is Marriott Mobile. This hotel is 20-stories and sits across the street from two shopping malls, three miles from Mobile Bay, and 4.5 miles from downtown. The USS Alabama is only six miles away from this majestic hotel. Some of the other amenities include an outdoor pool and an exercise room with cardiovascular and strength-training equipment on-site. Or guests can receive discounted passes to LA Fitness, which is only 1.5 miles away. Another great amenity that all guests can enjoy is the complimentary high-speed Internet access, which is available in the lobby, business center, and meeting rooms. This 20-story hotel has 251 guestrooms, all of which offer the Wired-For-Business program. Several other amenities include complimentary premium channels, coffeemakers, and video-game consoles.
