DIY and Youtube Videos

Are you a homeowner who likes to tackle projects around your home to save money on smaller repairs? If you do not have professional experience doing that type of repair you might end up costing yourself more money in the end.

There is a way to eliminate this added expense and that is to search on YouTube for a video about that repair. There are videos created by knowledge people who have the necessary skills to help you tackle the home repair project.

As a single mom on a limited budget, I find the YouTube videos to be helpful as I conquer the repairs around my house. I know my limits so I will not tackle any electrical repairs, for those I call my brother in law who has been working in the field for twenty years.

I have searched for videos on how to repair holes in the drywall. I watched a few of them and learned there are multiple ways of fixing these holes and some work better than others do.

Repairing a leaky faucet is also something I have looked up. While there is only one way to complete this task there are multiple people explaining how to complete the task on video. Some are easier to understand and follow as they explain the task in easy to understand ways. No matter what task I am trying to accomplish I always watch a few videos.

When I am watching, the videos I always make them full screen so that I can see what the person is trying to do. Making the video big allows me to see what they are doing up close, it is sometimes as if I am there. These videos are like one on one instruction. If you have a laptop computer with WIFI, you can move the computer close to whatever project you are trying to complete.

I have also looked up how to repair my lawn mower. I simply went to the website and typed in ‘lawn mower will not stay running’. I got several results back and watched a few. Of those that I watched, they all said my problem was most likely water in the gas line. I needed to clean it out with special tools that I did not have. I took my lawn mower to my neighbor and explained the problem. He said it sounded like water in the line. Being a small engine repairman, he was able to fix my lawn mower. He charged me a reasonable rate, because he is a nice man.
