Autumn Associations

Nature’s preparation for the cold winter months ahead

Temperature cooling, fruits ripening

Blackberries fat and fruitful in the hedgerows

Apples falling, squirrels storing

The last of their nuts ready for hibernation

Flowers starting to fade and die

Leaving summer behind, Autumn colours

Nature’s crowning glory

Yellows, reds, golden browns

Bonfires lit, smoke smelling the air

Grass stops growing, plants are dying

Closure, endings, departure

Yet not a final ‘goodbye’

Always is the knowledge that Spring will come

When new life will begin

A reassuring cycle of starts and endings

Wind rises, tempestuous leaves

Blowing wildly children and dogs chasing

Laughing, enjoying the precious autumn sunshine

And nature’s colourful montage.
