Camping in the Star City, Arkansas Area

Cane Creek State Park, located off Arkansas 293, five miles east of Star City, where the West Gulf Coastal Plain and the Mississippi Delta come together, offers excellent camping opportunities. Here a person can hike, bird watch or fish in the Cane Creek Lake or off a barrier free pier. Interpretation programs with special exhibits are also available for campers as well as picnic areas, a playground and two screened pavilions.

This state park has 30 campsites, either Standard B, which is water and electric for $12 to $14.50 per day or Preferred B, which is $16.50 per day. The difference in these campsites is their location in the park; the preferred campsite locations are often nicer than the standard campsites. Rent-A-RV is also available here for $65 per day. Rent-A-RV is a 29-foot travel trailer with heat and air that sleeps up to 8 people. Campsite occupancy is limited to eight people and one camping unit of no more than two structures. Pets are welcome, as long as they are on a leash and the owners clean up after them. Quiet time is from 10 pm to sunrise. All camping sites are assigned, and visitors must stop at the visitor’s center to register. Check out time is 3pm and to stay another day, campers must register by 10am. Camping in state parks is limited to one 2-week period within a 30-day period.

Other amenities at this state park include hot showers, restrooms, a gift shop, visitor’s center and a launch ramp. Along with renting an RV, this park also rents fishing boats and motors, kayaks, bicycles and tents. The U.S. Army of Engineers also has a campground in this area. This campground is located 3 �½ miles from Scranton, Arkansas on Highway 197, then 2 miles down a paved road. Campers here will find nine RV or tent sites with no hookups, vault toilets, drinking water and a boat ramp. This camping facility is closed in the winter and charges a users fee May to Labor Day.
