Clean Your Microwave in 10 Minutes or Less

It’s always a joy to clean the microwave with all of that stuck on who knows what it use to be stuff that has splattered itself all over the inside of your microwave. This splattered stuff has probably been cooked countless amounts of times already since no one ever seems to be able to wipe it out when they are done using the microwave, at least no one can in my house.

I’m sure there are tons of cleaners out there that would promise to take off that stuck on stuff in a jiffy but who needs to waste money on a specific cleaner for the microwave when you can use things you already have in your home? Not me, I’m not buying anything extra!

Ok let’s head to the microwave, open it up, yes the door might stick from all the stuck on food so pry it open anyway you can. Next take the glass tray out and set it, no don’t toss it glass breaks, in the kitchen sink. Turn the spout on over the tray and let the really hot water run over it. Letting the hot water run over it will help to loosen all that gross, baked on, stuck on food while we work on the actual microwave itself.

Next grab a dishtowel and get it wet, not soaking wet as that will just make for more of a mess you have to clean up later. Take the damp dishtowel over to the microwave and toss it in. This you can actually toss in since a dishtowel will not break. Shut the microwave door, set the microwave for 2-4 minutes depending hot nasty the inside of the machine is. Don’t worry I wont tell anyone if you really need 4 minutes, I’ve had those times too and it can be our little secret that the inside of your microwave is actually that nasty.

While the microwave is running with the dishtowel in it head back over to the sink. Turn the hot water to warm water, no need to burn yourself just for a clean microwave. Take a scrubby (I use brillo but anything works really) and go at the glass tray that usually resides in your microwave. By now with the hot water that has been running over it most things will come right off. Dry it and get ready to tackle the actual microwave.

Beep, beep….there it goes the microwave and the dishtowel are done. Grab some tongs (salad tongs, meat turning tongs anything works) and take the steaming hot dishtowel and set it in the sink. Notice the steam so no don’t touch it, steam means it’s pretty hot! Take a damp dishtowel and wipe out the microwave. Anything that was stuck shouldn’t be anymore since the steam from the dishtowel should have loosened it enough to wipe right off. Place the glass tray back inside the microwave and close the door.

There you have it folks, a sparkling clean microwave in under 10 minutes!
