Dieting Tips for Everyday Eating

So, you’re officially committed. You are going to drop the pounds, just a few or maybe a total body transformation. Whatever you goals, these simple recipes and tips will keep you on the bandwagon. I recently lost 110 pounds, and I did it through a balanced diet and exercise, yes exercise, no matter what your plan exercise is essential. The first thing you should remember is that there is no miracle cure for obesity, everyone is different and we will all cheat at some point. It is not the fall that counts it is getting back up.

A low fat diet is a diet that works for me. All the low-carb, low sugar diets are great if you want to lose a quick 10 pounds for a party, but be prepared to gain it backâÂ?¦FAST! There are hundreds of products available to help you on your endeavor to go low fat, some good, some bad. Beware of things that advertise “0 grams trans-fat”. Trans-fat is not the same as saturated and unsaturated fat. These are not necessarily good for you. For example, regular Oreo cookies have 0 grams trans-fat, but you wouldn’t eat them on your low fat diet of course. However, if you are a junk food junkie, try the reduced fat Oreos, or baked Doritos, Cheetos and other chips. Low-fat cheese and butter are a lifesaver, but do not try to cook with these, they do not work. Just don’t go overboard your body needs lots of grains and green, leafy vegetables, as well as non-fatty meats like chicken and fish.

These are a few simple recipes that you can make in bulk and freeze or take to work in a Tupperware bowl for a quick, low fat, meal from the microwave.

�· Make five cups of instant rice. Add in a can of fat-free cream of chicken soup, a can of Rotel, a can of corn (optional) and a few chunks of boiled chicken breast. You can eat this with baked tortilla chips, or even roll it into a tortilla.
�· Boil a package of egg noodles, as many as you want. I use a half a bag in this recipe. Add a can of fat-free cream of mushroom soup, a can of tuna, and sprinkle with poppy seeds. This is really good, one of my favorites!
�· Another great idea is to buy chicken breasts in a large package, they are cheaper that way, and keep some in the freezer. I like to boil them and then cut them into small chunks. You can quickly season for a salad or thaw and use on a sandwich.
�· Put a small amount of water, about a half cup, into a frying pan, put in a thawed chicken breast. Sprinkle with lemon pepper seasoning. Cook until done. The water will boil out and you may have to add more, but keep the water level low and you will get a finished product that tastes like it was fried. You can cut into strips and serve over rice. I like to squeeze some fresh lemon over mine. Tip: The Dixie Caf�© offers this on their menu and it is fabulous.
Ã?· If you have an uncontrollable desire for Pizza Hutt, order thin crust with veggies, canadian bacon, or chicken. When you get it, blot the grease from the top with your napkin. Do this until the napkins are dry, I usually have a mountain of napkins when I leave there. Tip the waitress well please! The “Blot and eat” technique is a good one for anything greasy that you simply can’t resist. WARNING: This is not fool proof. You must use this only in a dieting emergency!

I have found that when I am dieting, that it is best not to obsess. Keep yourself busy so that you are not constantly thinking about the diet. Make exercise fun by getting a walking partner. Walking is one of the best exercises out there. Do not go and spend a fortune on some video or strategy, when you can walk for 20 minutes or more a day and lose just as much or more weight. Take it from me; I wasted a lot of money and worse, energy on some of these scams. If you are trying to lose a lot of weight, 25 pounds or more, do cardio like walking and combine that with a small amount of sit-ups or leg lifts. For lesser amounts, 10 pounds or less, do more specific exercises, like sit-ups or squats.

Your walking buddy can be your support system. If you don’t have one, try online groups. There are lots of message boards with tips for dieting and chat rooms to talk to others about your successes and failures, and you will have failures, so don’t be discouraged. When you find those friends online or at home that are dieting with you, you will see that they to have failed. Do not concentrate on the failures, but on the recovery! Finally, the best advice I can give is this: “Well, I ate a doughnut for breakfast, so this day is shot, I might as well have pizza for lunch and a burger for dinner.” NO! NO! NO! Do not use this mentality!! You must stay positive and enjoy your doughnut but walk an extra few minutes to make up for it. YOU CAN DO IT!
