Great Durham, NC Music and Food

Durham, NC has several great musical venues. What could go better with good music however, than good food. There are a variety of different musical venues in the Durham area that not only offer great venues for musicians, but offer fantastic food for their patrons. Here are a few of the restaurants in the Durham area that also have a terrific music scene:

In addition to having the best Italian food in the triangle, Maggiano’s also has live jazz performances fairly often. There are very few places in the area that offer great live jazz, especially accompanied by such terrific food, so going to Maggiano’s on a jazz night is truly a treat. The restaurant is located in the streets of south point, so you can make a night of it, and go shopping at the mall or catch a movie at the theater before or after your meal.

If you like going to open mic nights, then the cosmic cantina may be just the place for you. The restaurant is a Mexican type fare with giant burritos and tacos. The food is always really good, and is reasonably priced with an average meal costing around $6. The restaurant has a lounge attached to it, and holds open mic nights on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights. If you are a musician looking for a place to share your music, or a listener looking for the opportunity to see something a little different, a trip to the cosmic cantina can be a great experience.

Pizza Palace has some of the best pizza in Durham. They make all of their pizza fresh daily, and in addition to pizza has several pasta options available as well on their menu. The pizza palace has a mix of musical concerts ranging from jazz, to acoustic rock. What you will hear when you go varies from week to week, and day to day so give the Pizza Palace a call before you go to see what their up coming concert calendar looks like.

The Saladelia has Mediterranean type flair to it with an amazing amount of vegetarian options on their menu. In addition to have a great food menu they also have a coffee bar, where you can get espresso drinks and finely made desserts. The type of music that is preformed here varies so call ahead to see what’s on the concert calendar for the week. You can usually catch a few performers here that you wouldn’t see in other parts of Durham, and everyone is always very good.

Divines always has a crowd of people, and usually has concerts on weekend nights when there aren’t sports events going on. The atmosphere is more like a bar than a restaurant, but they have some of the best burgers in town. Call ahead to see the concert schedule.
