How to Find an Affordable Bridal Gown

Let me start off by saying ..Congratulations on your enagagement. I know there are alot of things that go into planning “the big day”. Your bridal gown will be an important part of your memorable experience. Many women dream for years about what thier wedding will look like. Wedding planning is a large undertaking, and you’ll want to stay withing your wedding budget. What I want for you is for you to find a flattering wedding gown that you love and that you will not regret buying.

Did you know that there is really no limit on what you can spend on a wedding gown?. I’m not kidding. If you want to spend fourty thousand dollars, I know of many places where that is the average price for a dress. I’m assuming that you, like most people, do not want to spend that much.. The truth is that many women have an idea of what they want to spend..and not many of thm stick to that figure.

Why do women go so far over budget when it comes to wedding gowns? The answer is simple., They go about looking for a bridal gown in the wrong way. Open any bridal magazine and you will see endless choices of beautiful wedding gowns. Please note that a good many of these ads do not list the price of the dress!!! Most women find something they love, then find out where they can try it on locally. Good thing there are chairs at these stores. I think they are put there to catch women who almost faint when they see the price tag. Talk about sticker shock.! Now one of two things happens. You love the bridal gown you came to see..and want it desperately or you do not want that
particular wedding dress. In that case, you start looking around in an establishment where the other gowns cost roughly the same amount. Most women slowly recover from the shock and begin to think, “Well, this is what they cost. That is the going rate. That’s what I have to spend”.

The way to avoid buying one of these expensive gowns is never to lay eyes on them. I strongly advise staying out out of traditional bridal stores. What I also recommend is that you do not look at any bridal magazines, none at all. If you already have some, get rid of them. You may think that you think you need to look a them to get an idea of ‘what style you would like”. I am here to tell you that that is not true. If you take yourself to where the wedding gowns are and look at them in person you will find a style you like. After that it comes down to what looks best on you. That’s something you can only decide by trying the bridal gowns on.

If you want to save big money on your wedding gown, I recommend you buy it one of only two places. They are David’s bridal at the clearance or a used clothing store such as Goodwill. I want you to take a moment to think logically. I know it does not matter that you will only wear this dress for one day. I know you still want it to be fabulous, flattering and beautiful. What I am sayingis is that you can still have that. You do not have to spend thousand to get something you will love.

If you go to David’s bridal gown clearance bring only as much cash as you will spend on the dress and leave your credit cards at home. There are dresses of many different price ranges there. Limit yourself and you will be glad you did. If you plan on going to Goodwill , or the like, give yourself plenty of time to look. Most of these stores have only a few gowns to choose from and you may want to visit several stores. Don’t forget that you can alter a wedding dress you like but that doesn’t fit perfectly.

Now some will say there is nothing romantic about buying an inexpensive bridal gown or one that someone else has owned. I ask you, when did spending more money than you have to become a sign of romance? How romantic are maxed out credit cards and planning a bare bones honeymoon? The truth is you can spend alot of money on your gown or you can spend that money on other things.

Others claim that buying a used wedding gown is is “bad luck’ because it did not work out for the first owner. Well, the truth is alot in things in your wedding may not habe been lucky for someone else. The ring you bought might have been placed in the store on co-signment and previously owned. Wherever you get married will have had hundreds of previous services, not all of those people stayed married. How many people have been married by the person who will perform your ceremony? You get my point. Bad luck is beginning your new life together saddled with too much debt.

Most women wind up buying one of the first three bridal gowns thay try on. They fall in love with one of them.
If you take my advice you will still have a gown you love..and you’ll spend hundreds…… not thousands.
Wsihing you a beautiful wedding!
Judy
