How to Make Unique Balloon Decorations for Any Party
The first thing you need to do in order to start creating your hot air balloon design is to get one giant helium filled balloon, (it can have any design that is appropriate for your party, for example if it is a baby shower you would want one giant balloon that says it’s a boy or girl, ect.). The next thing that you will need is at least 150 feet of decorative ribbon, and a rectangular wicker basket. Or if you prefer you can use a round basket. Once you have gathered all of your materials you can then begin to construct your hot air balloon design.
First you will need to lay out your ribbon on a nice smooth surface. The floor might be the best place to construct this. Then you will want to create a fish net pattern with the ribbon. Make sure that you make it big enough to cover the top part of your balloon. You will want your fish net to be in the shape of a giant square with four corners. When you get to the corners you will want to tie knots in the ribbon to hold your pattern, and let the rest of the ribbon hang. Next you can pick up the ribbon and lay it on top of your giant balloon. Then you can take the four corners with the hanging ribbon and tie it to your basket. To add a little more decoration to your balloon you could line the basket with some cloth in a color that matches your balloon or you can add bows to the four corners of the balloon. A lot of people choose to use the basket to hold party favors or cards.
Another unique balloon decoration idea for your party is to make small bunches and decorate with tulle. This is really very simple to do. You get a group of helium filled balloons either three or five. It would have to be an odd number so that one will be the center with an even amount of balloons on the outside. The balloon that is placed in the middle should be different from the ones places on the outside. If you are using three balloons you would put the one in the middle a little higher than the ones on the outside. Tie them together so that they will remain this way. Next you will add the tulle to the bottom of the balloons starting from the base of the lowest balloons. Wrap the tulle around the balloon ribbon, all the way to the bottom and secure using a stapler. Do not use tape because it will not hold, and glue just looks to tacky. Make sure that the color of the tulle is a nice contrast to the balloons. Then tie your balloons to some type of weight, and arrange around your party room. This decoration will really be a nice elegant touch to your party.
