New Branson Missouri Attractions

Imagine driving down the strip, highway 76, and suddenly the bow of a huge luxury liner is cutting across the street directly in front of you. Or you go into a castle like building and are immediately surrounded by hundreds of multicolored live butterflies.

These are just two of the newest attractions now open in Branson, Missouri. The third new landmark is Branson Landing. This shopping center is located on the bank of one of the best trout fishing lakes in the Ozarks, Taneycomo Lake.

These new attractions point out how rapidly Branson, Missouri is changing and growing. There are still the old time country singer shows, magic shows, and impersonation shows of famous entertainers. The lakes that surround the city are filled with trout, stripers, bass and walleye.

There is a new golf course being built that will be as outstanding as the golfer it honors, Payne Stewart. This course will be surrounded by very nice condos with very nice prices. Visitors to Branson seem to come back later in life and retire. Aside from all of the things to do in Branson, Missouri it must be the breath taking beauty that captures the tourists and makes them return to live here.

Then again, it may be the startling sight of the Titanic trying to cross 76. The Titanic Museum is special in many ways. First it looks like the ship it’s named after including the dastardly iceberg it ran into. The ship’s bow is several stories high and appears to be in full sail. Inside the museum, the ship’s grand staircase is replicated for real use to go from the first floor to the second. The hour and a half tour of the Titanic interior is interesting due to the artifacts which are displayed. This attention to detail is brought home to the tourist, when looking at the 3rd class accommodations or an authentic state room. The sad history of the Titanic has an unusual effect on the viewer at the end of the tour. But, let’s not ruin the surprise. Just make sure it is one of the sights taken in when in Branson.

The Butterfly Palace is a wonderful and beautiful experience to enjoy. Branson in the summer, is hot. The Butterfly Palace with its controlled temperature and humidity is a treat when it is over ninety outside. This climate is not done for the tourist. It allows the botanical nature of the interior to flourish and provide a perfect home for the multitude of butterflies that live within the Palace. Butterfly cocoons are brought there, from all over the world, to thrive in a controlled environment. When they hatch, they fill the air with their fragile flight and rainbow colors. Make sure to bring an extra digital card for your camera as you will become an obsessed picture taker in this butterfly extravaganza. Until seeing this for yourself, one would never have guessed that all of these colors existed in nature. But, at the Butterfly Palace you see living proof.

The newest show place is the Dick Clark American Bandstand Theater. They will showcase Rock music that rocks and legends from the 50s and 60s. According to the reviews their shows are getting, there is music for both the young and the still young in mind. Like many Branson shows prove, nostalgia sells and visitors like to have their memories tweaked.

For those who have never been to Branson, it is like Las Vegas without the gambling. The strip (Hwy 76) is made up of great places to stay and theaters. There are all of the chain eateries and some very good local restaurants. The headliners at the shows are moving away, in many instances, from old stars to some of the blossoming young stars. There are still shows that harken back to the early days of Branson. The Baldknobbers has been there since the beginning and the average age of the group is over seventy.

For those who have been there before, but not in say the last six years, you will not recognize the town. Branson has exploded out in all directions and the local population is growing astronomically. This has to do mainly with the number of retirees moving into the area.

If you have never been to Branson, come and stay a while. It is in a gorgeous part of the Ozarks with lakes and forests and many tourist attractions. For most it doesn’t matter what your interest, you will find something to like in Branson.

The final result of what is currently happening in Branson is this. The city has come a long way from when it was just a step child little town next to a big railroad town. Those positions have reversed and now Branson is the fastest growing city in the Missouri southwest. Come see for yourself. Fun time in Branson is easy to find.
