Prevent Osteoporosis Naturally

Osteoporosis is a debilitating bone disease that occurs mostly in women. The bones start dissipating causing you to lose bone. Unfortunately, many women develop this disease because of a poor diet and lack of exercise. Many women know they need to take more calcium in order to strengthen their bones but there are a number of other natural treatments women can do to prevent osteoporosis.

Eating enough protein will help to prevent osteoporosis. Make sure you eat at least 6 ounces of meat in your diet, but don’t eat too much meat, especially red meat. As most women know, you should get plenty of calcium, which you can get from dairy products and vegetables. You can also take between 600-1,500 mgs of a calcium supplement daily. Milk is helpful but other dairy products, such as yogurt and cheese are better because they provide other nutrients as well. Plus, milk is an enemy for those who are lactose intolerant, like myself. But don’t just take calcium. Make sure you include magnesium, vitamin D, vitamin K, and manganese along with calcium to help naturally prevent osteoporosis.

Magnesium works well in conjunction with calcium to strengthen bones and prevent osteoporosis. You should double the amount of magnesium you are taking in calcium. Vitamin D helps the body to absorb calcium, take 400 iu of vitamin D everyday. A lack of vitamin K can be linked to developing osteoporosis because vitamin K produces osteocalcin, which helps to restore and build bone mass. You can get enough vitamin K by eating dark green vegetables and take along with these foods a 150-500 mcg of vitamin K everyday to help prevent and even restore bones. Manganese also helps build bones. Make sure you eat enough grains, nuts, and leafy vegetables in order to get the manganese you need to help prevent osteoporosis. You can also take a manganese supplement along with eating these manganese-rich foods.

Take Betaine Hydrochloride with meals to help breakdown foods and absorb nutrients. You can take three 10-grain capsules after a few bites of your meal. However, only take this supplement if you have been diagnosed with low stomach acid. If you experience heartburn, reduce the dosage. Also, if you are taking Aspirin, Motrin, or Ibuprofen, don’t take this supplement because it could cause severe stomach problems, such as ulcers. Perhaps a safer way to keep your stomach acid levels high enough to help you break down food naturally and absorb more nutrients is to add a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar to eight ounces of water and drink it before each meal.
