Scotch-Brite Cook Top Cleaner System Product Review

Ever since we bought our electric stove two years ago I have had trouble cleaning it. It is one of those stoves with a smooth cook top. My cook top has white rings that indicate burners. If anything spills on these burners while they are hot, a black char mark appears. These marks take a lot of elbow grease to remove. I have finally found a cook top cleaner that easily removes those marks: Scotch-Brite cook top cleaner.

Cost: The Scotch-Brite Cook Top Cleaner Starter Kit cost $5.99. The starter kit came with a handle and six pre-moistened cleaning pads. The pads are single use and cost $2.99 for additional packs.

Cleaning System: The pads were a little more than just pre-moistened. I considered them to be wet. I did not mind because I knew I had a tough task ahead of me. I had neglected my cook top because it was so difficult to clean.

The handle has a soft plastic gripping sheet on the bottom. This sheet adheres to the cleaning pad. All I had to do was place the pad on the handle and it stuck there.

How to Use: To use the Scotch-Brite Cook Top Cleaner Starter Kit I had to open the pouch that contained the pads and replace the pads in the plastic container that came with the kit. The box said that it was important to keep the container tightly closed because the pads may dry out. Then all I had to do was stick the pad onto the Scotch-Brite Unique Handle. The instructions said to clean your cook top with smooth, even strokes.

Results: The box claimed that the Scotch-Brite Cook Top Cleaner system will cut through grease, remove stuck on food, and leaves a brilliant shine. I was amazed at how much cleaner was on one pad. The cleaner easily wiped away the stuck on food and removed the grease spots.

In order to remove those black spots on my stove, I had to leave a good amount of cleaner on them for about two minutes. I still had to rub the spots pretty hard, but they did come clean. I had never been able to scrub the cook top hard enough to get it clean before. The handle made it easy to exert more pressure.

Scotch-Brite also advised the user to remove the cleaning pad from the handle in order to clean the hard to reach places. I did not have to do this. I was able to clean the entire cook top with the pad on the handle.

The last step to the cleaning process is to polish the cook top. Scotch-Brite suggests using a soft cloth or paper towel. I used a dish towel. I cleaned off the excess cleaner and wiped away any streaks.

Rating: I highly recommend the Scotch-Brite Cook Top Cleaner system. It was well worth the price. It was easy to use, made my stove look like new again, and it did not leave any scratches.
