She’s Back: Mariah Carey’s Great Comeback

A few years ago the public had written Mariah Carey off as a ’90s pop artist. After the failure of Glitter and her album Charmbracelet fans thought the pop princesses reign was over. Not anymore, Carey’s album The Emancipation of Mimi is the comeback album of the year.

Armed with a number of top music producers and performers, she headed back into the studio and came up with an album that rose to the top of the music charts.

On the first look, you will not see much difference in this album and her previous ones, but with a closer look you will discover this album is the one that comes from deep down in her soul.

The Emancipation of Mimi gives listeners the feeling that Carey is doing just that, emancipating herself from her own inner feelings. One has to wonder if this is not therapy for her brief breakdown a few years ago. It seems Carey has taken a bad time and turned it into good music.

There are quite a few chart topping singles on this album. The first two are “It’s Like That” and “We Belong Together.” They are the perfect blend of dance and strong vocals.

After all Carey is called “The Voice.” Carey teams up with Snoop Dogg for the track “Say Something” and with Nelly on “To the Floor.” This album not only has the charisma of Carey, but also the star power of her singing partners.

A few years ago the world watched as reports of Carey’s breakdown flashed across the news. Fans figured Carey’s days as a pop princess were over. Carey thought otherwise and went back into the studio and now she is back and stronger than ever.
