Springmaid Egyptian Cotton Luxury Bath Towels

Years ago when we visited my in-laws for Christmas, I was so impressed with the softness and luxuriousness of her bath towels, I had to take a sneak peek at the label to see what they were made of. I learned that they were made of Egyptian Cotton, and I vowed to buy a couple sets of towels made from Egyptian Cotton when we returned home.

I have been buying bath towels made of this kind of fabric for about 10 years now, and I usually pay about $20 or more per towel. Imagine my surprise when I visited our newly remodeled WalMart store (it has just become a Super WalMart), and saw some gorgeous Egyptian Cotton towels on their shelves! We just remodeled our bathroom, and I had taken one of my shower curtain rings with me, so I could buy a bathroom rug in a matching green color, and I saw these towels sitting neatly on their shelves. They drew me in, they were large and fluffy looking!

I did a double take when I saw that the price for these towels was only $9.61 each! That’s less than half of what I am used to paying, and they aren’t thin either, these are very thick and plush bath towels. They are oversized and measure 30 inches by 56 inches, and come in a variety of colors, in all the popular shades.

They are made by Springmaid, and the label reads “Luxury Egyptian Cotton”, with 100% Egyptian Cotton Loops. The label bears the triangular shaped logo that reads Egyptian Cotton TM. They are described as Luxury Egyptian Cotton for a plush hand and superior softness. Coordinates beautifully with color-rich Springmaid rugs. I ended up buying one set of the towels with a throw rug for the bathroom in a matching color, also made by Springmaid. While they were available, I also purchased two 13″ x 13″ wash cloths, and was shocked that these were over $6 just for a tiny wash cloth! I guess that’s where they make their money, since you always want wash cloths in matching colors! I mean a large towel for under $10, and wash cloths are $6? Doesn’t make sense to me!

The towels look pretty much like every other Egyptian Cotton towel, with a wide 2″ design at the bottom of the towel, and satiny thin stripes at the top and bottom of this border, that adds a bit of appeal to them. They look just a little bit different from towels that are looped throughout the entire length of the towel, and it gives them an even more expensive appearance. The towels feel thick and plush!

Using these towels to dry off with after a bath or shower is a pleasure, the larger size wraps me in softness and warmth, and they seem to get even softer with every washing! I am definitely going to return to WalMart soon and purchase another set for our upstairs bathroom. I am still amazed that WalMart even carries such a quality product, I always think of them as having bargain basement, low end merchandise. These towels look elegant in my bathroom, and I am proud to put them out when guests arrive. There is nothing I don’t like about these towels, they are truly a bargain!
