Toledo Zoo

Located in Toledo, Ohio. This zoo is a little on the expensive side. It’s well worth your money though. $10.00 for adults, $7.00 for children ages 2-11, free for children under 2. On Mondays all Lucus county residents get in for free. It also cost $5.00 per car for parking.

There are all different kinds of exhibits. All animals there seem to be very alert and happy. They are defiantly well taken care of and their habitats were a good size. The primate forest being one of the biggest habitats. During nice weather you can view the primates in a large outside habitat. There are trees, Hills and all kind of stimulating toys for them. On the bad weather days there are large areas for viewing inside. In doors there are a lot of stimulating toys , and they seemed very happy even being in doors.

The bald eagle habitat was by far great. They have two separate habitats for this. There is one for rescue eagles that they are helping. Here the eagles receive proper care and love to get them back to a healthy life. They will then be determined if they are safe to be released back into the wild. If for some reason they are not 100% healthy they are moved to the regular exhibit where they will call home for the rest of their life. You get a real close view of the bald eagle.

The Africa exhibit is awsome. Its 12 acres long. Has all the animals from Africa there.Masai giraffe, Grant’s zebra, greater kudu, Nile lechwe, wildebeest, impala, ostrich, East African crowned cranes, helmeted guineafowl and more. Then connected to it, but sectioned off there is another 6 acres for the wild dogs. In these exhibits they get to roam just like they would in the wild.

This was truly a great experience. The staff all seemed very nice and knowledgeable. They were very eager to help with anything they could. There are dozens of gift shops there. Some inside exhibits where you may see fish and birds. It does tend to get hot and stuffy in here when quite a few people enter at the same time. There are things for the children to do as well including a train ride and a African Carousel. Plenty of places to buy food and drinks, or if you brought your own their is plenty of spaces marked off for you to sit at picnic tables. The whole zoo is smoke free and very clean.
