Top Ten Songs by Rascal Flatts

It is hard to believe this popular country music group has been around for such a relatively short time. Rascal Flatts has only released four albums with their first being in the year 2000, but they already have won many awards and the hearts of many fans. The band consists of three talented men, and two of those are cousins. Gary LeVox is the man behind that fantastic lead singing voice. He was born July 10, 1970 in Columbus, Ohio. His second cousin is the bassist, Jay DeMarcus who was born April 27, 1971 in Columbus, Ohio. Joe Don Rooney plays the electric guitar and was born September 13, 1975, in Baxter Springs, Kansas.

The release of their first album in 2000 titled “Rascal Flatts” produced their first country chart topping hit, “Prayin’ for Daylight.” The year 2002 brought the hugely successful album titled, “Melt,” which brought Rascal Flatts the recognition they needed. It also brought four hits that topped the country music charts. The band won their first #one hit with the title cut “Melt,” with “These Days” following the same path. The album got immense air play on country radio stations. The songs continued to grow in popularity. The great song, “Mayberry” reminisces of small town life from the past and this song made it to #one in 2004 also. The other chart-topper from the “Melt” album was “Love You Out Loud.”

The awards were numerous for this now famous group after the “Melt” success. In the year 2003, Rascal Flatts won the Country Music Association (CMA) award for Vocal Group of the Year. They also won the Academy of Country Music (ACM) award the same year for Top Vocal Group and for Song of the Year. They also won the Country Music Television (CMT) Flameworthy Music Video Award in 2003 for Group/Duo of the Year.
